Last year saw the installation of our purpose designed Paint Shop facility, which is the most advanced in the North of England.

In order to comply with the very demanding legislative requirements for a paintshop facility, F.M.Engineering has undertaken to install the most up-to date equipment to enable it to exceed all current Environmental Act 1990 legislative requirements.

Preparation / priming Bay 16 metres long 5 metres wide 6 metres high which incorporates a low bake oven and a pedestrian pit to enable maximum spray access to all vehicles.

Finish paint bay 16 metres long 5 metres wide 6 metres high which incorporates a low bake oven. To ensure high quality paint finishes careful preparation is essential. We operate high efficiency dust extraction with filtration units, which utilises independent ceiling-hung extraction points throughout the workshop. This creates the cleanest possible environment with minimum contamination entering the atmosphere. Which is what current environmental legislation now demands.

In order to obtain the highest possible standards in paint finishing we use the most advanced electrostatic spray technology. Electrostatic spray guns are used in both the priming and finish paint booths which give an extremely high level of paint transfer efficiency combined with the wrap- around effect of electrostatics.

This technology reduces the amount of overspray which means a greater depth of paint coverage. Meanwhile because we reduce the overspray we reduce VOC emissions thus improving our environment. Currently F M Engineering are undergoing tests with water based products with all leading paint manufacturers.

Continuous on going staff training in techniques and practices ensures that our trained skilled paint technicians achieve first class results everytime. Full in house I.C.I. / Masons paint mixing scheme (for extra high solids ) as required for Environment Act 1990 has been installed to create minimum vehicle downtime.

Following paint suppliers strict procedures we can give paint suppliers Certificated Warranty on any paintwork undertaken by us whether it be a 3yr warranty on polyeurothane systems or 5yr on two pack systems.
